SVMMER brings back Little Dragon with a remix by Vindata. Ghost Loft picked the perfect name for their dreamy tune; it really makes me want to “slow down time” (I feel the same with Beat Connection’s “Think/Feel,” too). In Vol. XIII Jackie introduced Perseus. I brought him back, this time with a new tune titled “Love in Zanzibar” (R&B vocals all day!) I'd never heard of Manicanparty but their anthemic chorus on “Monarch” sold me. Chromeo’s Dave-1 lends his vocal magic on Oliver's remix of “Mr. Overtime.” Lancelot was another artist new to me. I've been calling his song “Ninja Disco” because I can only think of ninjas and Studio 54. What so Not's “Van She” remix really picks up this mix with that bouncy bass. Obey City wraps things up with one of the most unique songs I've ever heard.

A year ago, everything felt fervent and inspired. A year later, things are…Habitual. Idle. Music, however, brings constant newness. This mix will make you forget about that ennui. As an opener, Loz Contreras does some idyllic magic with Sanna on vocals, before we get drum-heavy with Dark Sky. SF's Blackbird Blackbird gets away from the fog and into the sun, and Blood Diamonds injects cheer into an otherwise melancholic song. xxxy is one of my new favorite producers, and this is his best track. AlunaGeorge is a girl/boy duo of Tri Angle Records, an endless source of everything I'm into right now. For the last 4 songs - pull over, sit down, pause, whatever - and listen. My special favorite on this mix is from Bondax. Everything they touch seems to turn to gold.
A few years ago we started trading mixtapes as a fun way to share new (or old) songs that we thought our brother-from-another-mother (or sister-from-another-mister) might enjoy. It began with a simple set of parameters — 10 tracks and a title — and quickly* became this little site where we can share with the world the mixtapes we've shared with each other.
* This site was completed in under 24 hours on a chilly, winter evening warmed by the glows of our computers.

She created Family Knux as a place where she can give you two out of three. Maybe one day you'll get all three. Hmm.
